(d) There are many protein rich foods available in supermarkets, like soya based sausages and burgers as well as quorn products. More unusual products can be bought in health food shops, like seitan, a japanese wheat protein. Dairy foods also contain protein, though some, like cheese, are also high in fat. Eggs are a good source, but stick to one a day. A handful of nuts or seeds as a snack is a good way to increase your protein intake, and there are many delicious kinds available - brazils, pecans, cashews, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Roasted nuts are fine sometimes but are also high in oil and salt.
Taking supplements can cause problems, as too much of one vitamin or mineral can create a deficiency in another. However vegans ( people who don't eat meat or any dairy products) can become deficient in some vitamins, and should seek dietary advice.
